Dear work, I'll make you a deal.
If you pay me for my lunch hour, I won't look at my livejournal during my lunch hour. How's that? Or just flat out tell me not to do it. But don't be vaugely frowny at me for being on the net when it's not forbidden and it's time I'm not being paid for! AHRGHH!

Anyway:
What I did this week:

I finished the fanart for the [info]bsgflash challenge.
The fic . . . is in la la land. I don't know. Why is part II always so hard to finish?

Crack Fairy Tale BSG image based on Goblin Market
Come Buy Come Buy, G"

Getting the goblin to look like Starbuck was harder than I thought. Also getting him not to look creepily like a child was kinda hard 0.o
I think it worked in the end but I went through like 8 drafts before I like done ^^;;

This is also one of those "fanart" pieces that I think qualifies WAY MORE as original art.

But yeah, 8 drafts for a flash-challenge piece of art?
Ohhh yeah I'm finishing it.

I wish I could magically turn into Alan Lee and Finish it but I don't see that happening. I think I'll actually go buy some resist stuff though and this will become my resist demo piece for my Portus presentation on watercolor

Goblin Market btw is one of my favorite poems. Very creepy. And actually with that as the context this probably qualified as non-con.

I'm reading a book on the Cthulu Mythos, and why this writer who relaly wasn't so great with you know characters or pacing or other things you generally think of when you think of amazing stories got so big.

One thing that is interesting to me is the perspective.
It's an older book written in 1972 by Lin Carter (who also did one of these for LotR) and what I just read is all about how Lovecraft really, for the first time, combined sci-fi and horror to create mmore modern horror stories in modern current settings.

And you know, I dind't think of that as a novelty when I read his stuff because for so long (especially after Alien), so much of sci-fi is sci-fi Horror, but yeah ok, 1930 something you really didn't ahve that much of and it was pretty inovative the idea that this ancient god like creatures were actually aliens who had once owned the earth and causing major horror in modern times.

So it's interesting to me to see basically this entire genera which is so friggen common today being attributed to Lovecraft.

Title courtesy of my father who always pokes fun at Lovecraft for saying something was beyond description and then trying to describe it for a page or so *L* I disagree with dad and don't think Lovecraft does it near as much as dad thinks, but none the less he does do it sometimes.

Class cubicle borg hell is going better than expected btw. However While we want you area to be uniquely yours there will be a limit of three personal items permitted in your cubical

Ok I get not, you know, having my entire collection of Star trek action figures up were or something . . . but three? And these are pretty big cubicals. Three is fairly limited for the space we have, and makes me doubt the sincerity of the first par tof that sentence -_-

Right now I have a lava lamp and a DHL colored frog that I won with Brandon and the state fair. I also have a cactus I want to bring up, but if I bring that. . . no art or photos of anyone *sigh*

DHL frog sits on my monitor so I'm kinda hoping maybe I can squeak an extra item in.

I'm also debating forgoing art/ohotos AND Cactus Bob (I name everything Bob)and bring the Starbuck figure back up.

Just to see *evil grin*

Speaking of Dolls *wibble*
God those Harry Potter dolls are AMAZING, the really nice ones. I may put on one my gift list (mom asked us to keep a gift list and e-mail her with updates so she can buy gifts all year long with some assurance we actually want these things)

If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result than what is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting the same wrong result, and not caring.

Is that apathy, self destruction, or office work?

By the by, if you spill a bottle of india ink on a off white rug, rubbing alcohole helps the stain look less like one of those totally black Acme instant holes in cartoons to more of a light grey smudge.

If your carpet is already crap it works pretty well.

If the rest of the carpet is prestine, I'd save the hour of scrubbing and instead buy a bunch of black ink and splatter the rug. Maybe it'll look Modern Chic.

Not that I spilt my india ink last night.
All over the rug.
In front of the TV.
At Midnight
As I was trying to go to bed.

Not at all *head desk*

As I sit here futilely looking for backup forms I keep thinking about how very likely it is that Peter will be dead by the end of book 7.

Dwelling on this thought combined with the futile paper work search is making me depressed.

And depression is creating an overwhelming temptation to eat the entire contents of a Hershey Chocolate bag, which I have in my desk drawer (I brought it when I dressed as Remus =P).

Dead with no future Peter does not make Ani happy *sigh*
It's funny though because this would not bother me at all EXCEPT that the HP fandom is so huge and i love seeing what fandom does with his character (certain parts of fandom anyway)
