Late Night Harry Potter Art Post

Officer Grayson
I'm actually very proud of this series of watercolors.
They're not as "artsy" as the last series of portraits I did, but I think they are very charming, which is what I associate HP with.

Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville, and Trevor )

Not too much to say on this one, other than Ginny took two tries to get right. And I'm glad I re-did them because I *adore* how Ginny came out here. Luna is also a fave of mine . . . and Heck Hermione came out wonderfully too. I think I did especially well on all the girls ^__^

The Were Only Trying to Help - I think )

Zomg, it's been so long since I posted HP fanart. I feel bad 0.o
This was my Halloween art for HP. Heh. Fred and George being Twin Terrors. They're scary right? Especially for Baby Ron who now finds hismelf turned into a snake.

It's a good thing babies don't remember much =P
Bill has the right idea I think.

Sketches I did at Comic Con

Kermit chilling
I took a small sketch book with me to comic con (5X 7-ish, smaller = lighter in my bag) because I knew I'd want to sketch while waiting in lines and such.
Here's most of the pages I sketched. A few aren't here, but they werne't worth scanning.

Heidi asked if I could do New BSG, and yes, yes I can.

If you can't tell (because sadly I don't think it's as obvious as I'd like it to be)
Harry = Lee
Ginny = Kara
Draco = Various sixes with Caprica and Gina upfront

I was a little sad I couldn't color this, as my colors were packed at the time (the color at the bottom is done with office supplies =P), but it was fun to plan something out for mostly black and white.

I really have a fondness for black and white and should really work in it more often. In fact, doing this, I realized I need to work on dynamic use of shadow more. Note to self, study Wrightson.

Here are more of the character sketch doodles the I requested people suggest for me a while ago.

I'm actually not so slow doodeling them at work, it's finding time to scan 'em that's hard =P

So I'm not sure I'm gonna get any fandom Xmas art out this year :(
We shall see. I'm mean there's still time, I'm just kinda swamped with gift art ^^;;

But for fun, I thought I'd collect all the Harry Potter Christmas Art I'd done from over the years:

So I was having a bit of a shit art day.
Nothing was coming out right.

But then, I thought HEY! I'm doing it wrong. Why not embrace my epic fail at anatomy today.

So I did:

Ganked this from [info]itsbeenvery who posted her response here, whihc yuo should go see!

Sometimes it's okay to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five ficart-favorites you've written Drawn, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same. Everyone else in the world should do it...

Ok love the most huh. OMG only 5. Guh. 0.o

OK will the 5 I pick today (because tomorrow I'm sure it would be different)

Crossing Over Original Art
I very much like this original piece. It's slightly divergent enough from someof my others to stand out well and I think it's well balanced in terms of color and composition. And I just liked the creepy bugs and the weird little guy. It works for me.
It took a long time to get it to work for me, lots of paint and I had to make two tries at the bridge (it's collaged on) but in the end, it worked. I also like the atmosphere created here. It's . . wonky. It memorable. At least to me.

Autumn's Girl Harry Potter fanart
This watercolor portrait using my sister as a model for Lily (or Ginny) I also think came out well. I like that I pulled of a viable portrait in my looser style and the picture sill looks 100% finished to me. One thing with me looser style is sometimes thing like unfinished, but not this one. This one I nailed. Again it was a case of practice makes perfect as it took two tires before I got it. I think though it's also a wonderful example of what I can do with watercolor and ink, and a very "mature" style for me, as in it shows a maturity in my own style that I'm thrilled to see.

No Harm Done Battlestar Galactica Fanart
A 5 page Battlestar Glaactica comic that I did for [info]bsgflash. Ok so it's just the pencils, but I still think it's pretty gosh darn good and I'm impressed with myself for getting it done and for not wimping out. It's huge, it was involved, and I had to draw actor likeness, any one of those items can cause me to bail on art, that all three were there and I STILL got something done and by a deadline too, will I'm happy.
And I'm happy with how it came out. There are some areas I'd improve, but overall, I think the art holds. My lettering is utter crap, but whatever.

Spartans Assemble New Avengers Crack!Art
This is the most recent of the bunch, but the only think that intimidates me more than drawing real people is drawing superheros. Because they are so freaking muscular and I just don't . . . visualize people like that. So the fact that I feel I respectably pulled off a mostly naked Captain America, Iron Man, and Spiderman (Ok Spidey is covering up with his cape) just makes me gleeful. Plus it amuses me. A lot. It really really really amuses me. Especially Peter. I love Peter. This may just be a sketch, but it's one of the best surprise THIS WORKED pieces of art I've done this year.

Ok and after much debate my last pick is:

I am NOT a Turtle Harry Potter and TMNT Fanart
Because the Turtle Tots are just *too* cute and Voldemort is just *too* funny, and aesthetically the watercoloring on this really appeals to me. Which is funny because when I first did his, I wasn't thrilled with it, but now when I look at the watercolor technique here, I think it's really gorgeous, particularly the effects in the background. So it combines cute overdose, with funny, with good watercolor. I gotta love it.

PORTUS IS MADE OF WIN

OH MY GOSH!!!
I just got back from dropping my art off at Portus. Didn't run into anyone I know well. Ran into Puma, who I know by name. The art gallery staff is a lovely bunch of people.
They need major Kudos.

God y'all the hotel is GORGEOUS. I don't think I've ever sen a prettier convention Hotel. WOW.
I was sad to go. Someone offered to sneak me into the opening ceremonies, but as I didn't pay for 'em I declined. I also promised I'd be home by 8:00 ^^''

Some More artwork I did for Portus:

Neville, Luna, Hermione

These are three of the four remarque sketches I did. They are basically surprise extras. If you win the art in auction, one of these will be taped to the back.

The fourth unseen one is one is a portrait of Harry and on the back of "Stickies." It not scanned because I totally failed to do four sketches and only did three, and the Gallery staff kindly allowed me to knock out a fourth (black and white) sketch before they put "Stickies" up.

I'll have one more Portus art post at least because there are 19 stickies and I only ever put 6 up, so I'll put the rest up when I feel like formatting all those scans 0.o
Also photos.

OMG I Chrissy found my digital camera. Its been missing for TWO YEARS. f course I've long since lost the charger *head desk* gonna see about getting one and maybe having a digital camera Saturday which would ROCK.

Stresssssssssssss . . and Harry Potter art

  • Jul. 4th, 2008 at 1:01 PM
ARGHHHHHH
I just spent from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm working on the Hp Art Project.
*collapse*

Now I have to work on my Watercolor Workshop for Portus.
If I hadn't already worked on it, I'd almost want to pull out I'm so frazzled, but what the heck I can babble about watercolor and it'll be fun. It's mostly demonstration anyway. And I only feel like that right now because of STRESS.

I need to go buy the paper and chop it up and I need to make sure the cheap-o watercolors work will enough to have them at the demo to be played with.

I did finish some examples of paintings painted with specific watercolor techniques.
Watercolor Technique Examples in the form of: Remus, Tonks, Lily, Snape, Luna, Neville, Ginny, and Sirius )

These are 8 separate pieces, and the originals will actually be fore sale at the watercolor presentation if you want one. They 10.00. at the workshop.

They'll 15.00 at the art swap (unless the Portus team determines they are not general enough, but hopefully they are ^^). Yes, yes I am kinda bribing people to come to my watercolor demo? Why?

Also, is anyone else gonna be in Swap at Portus?

Band of Brothers makes an interesting radio show.
*sigh* I can't get pictures on my computer so I just listened to it as a collaged all that in photoshop.

I am imagining the Dickwad Captain to look like Ross (from Friends).

Oh my gosh! Can it be YES! I actually finished some Harry Potter fanart.

Notes I waffled between this being Ginny or Lily, and I still think it looks a bit more Ginny-ish than Lily-ish (which is why she has freckles) but the green eyes stand out so much I'm going with Lily. I think (the file name says Ginny though so really I'm still waffeling *L*)

Summer Girl )

And here is an abandoned prep sketch for this. This is Lily, but IMHO the sketch was a little boring. Sweet but boring.

Btw, I used photos of my younger sister as a model for both portraits.

Ok that was so much fun for Battlestar lets also collect all my Harry Potter comics done over the years.

16 strips, 3 multipage comics )

Three Page Peter and Regulus Comic: Become

Unletterd 9 Page MWPP comic

5 Page comic: Dandelion Wishes
OMG! THIS IS SO OLD!!!

So yup, that's everything I could find with text in it for Harry Potter
errr . . . except on 20 page completed Snape and Peter comic based on the fanfic 'Bargians' by Gehayi, which AFAK, is still slated to go into a fanzine, by Chupa, but I don't know when, but she asked us not to publically post 'em until it's printed.

ETA, Aside from the ammitedly attention whoring look tthe last two posts have, I'm really kinda proud because I hadn't realized I'd done all of these over the years (and BSG) and one thing that hold me back from a fanzine is thinking of the work and so these two posts are kinda up to go LOOK STUPID you practically ALREADY have both an HP AND a BSG fanzine, you just need to bloody lay it out, or if you don't like the *really* old HP stuff, do new stuff, but you do so make enough stuff to warrent a cute fanzine *kicks own butt*

Harry Potter Law and Order crossover Fanart

Daddy's Girl
You remember way back weeks ago I mentioned i was thrilled that I'd begun drawing for TV-Show fandoms because it had increased my confidence in my art and inabled me to spontaneously draw a crossover fanwork that I'd not have had the guts to do just a year or so ago?

Right I enver actually posted that did I? *head desk*

Sketch Commissions are done
You know those Commissons I took a bit more than a year ago . .. I actually
finished 'em, which means I will finally mail 'em out, if people still want to pay for 'em.

I can't apologize enough that it took this long to get these out, and really I have no excuse other than once mom helped me out financially, I just kept putting these off. *sigh*

But I have actually finished 'em.

Now this is embaressing. I think this was meant as a christmas present, I totally missed the deadline period, and I can't find my original notes to figure out why commissioned it. I don't think it was paid for.
With smaller commissions like this,I usually don't take money until I am finished with the art; however, if it was, please let me know and I will refund it, if you want.
For ? Slughorn and Dumbledore )

Ok so that should clear up most of my commissions left over from last year. If anyone has paid for a commission and either never got the art or never got their money back *please* tell me. I think I've gotten all the sketch commissions done and I've refunded the one none sketch commission which I'm pretty sure was eaten by the post office (which would be This one, god bless the US mail -_-)

As for none sketch commissions, so far as I know, only two of these went unfinsihed:
[info]birgitriddleI'm still have yours half done, let me know though if you are still interested in it.

[info]bodgei are you still interested in a commission at all? I can't find that I ever got starte on your -_-

I think that clear up every commission I fell on my face on last year or so. Please let me know though if I overlooked something.

Again, my apologies. I usually try and get commissions done with in two to four months, and that just did not happen with these. Nor have I *ever* missed a deadline before, not even with school, so I'm really embarressed about all this. *head desk*

And also because of this, I'm now closed for any future commissions until i figure out a way to sort out what happened and make sure I never flake like this again -_-
