Word for word from Marvel:
Note: Between Toro's death and resurrection, an elderly man called "Mr.Raymond", with powers similar to Toro's, surfaced and observed the adventures of the young Power Pack team; Raymond may have been Toro, having survived Thinker's explosion and reverted to his true chronological age, thus existing independently of the "resurrected" Toro, but this remains unconfirmed.

Sometimes Marvel, you need to just LET THINGS GO!
Didn't we have enough fun with temporal duplicates with the Torch.
That said, honestly, I'd have preferred elderly Toro to resurrected-via-the-cosmic-cube-in-a-cra p-story Toro.
Was talking with
terra on this and it was concluded that nothing is allowed to negate the Winter Kills story. So no, Bucky did not remember that he resurrected Toro.
Suck it Ross and Krueger >.

Some thoughts: Let me first say this is based on my observations and is yes, a generalization. I know there are cases where what I mention below does not hold up, but I'm just talking about a reaction I've seen that is common enough to give me pause.
. . . I'm also babbling , so I don't knwo that I get my point across well ^^
Anyway:
I'm trying to write a fic about Tom and Ann Raymond (Toro and his canon wife). I've actually got several plot bunnies nibbling at me for this bunny, as well as for Ultimate Steve and Gail, his canon fiancée.
What keeps hanging me up though, is the reaction I've seen in all fandoms to male/female couples niggeling in the back of my head.
And I don't just mean that a female character, no matter how well written, and weather she is canon or non-canon, still gets more Mary-Sue accusations than a male character.
What I mean is fandom's reaction to the author and some of the things I've seen written in hate memes and such. The accusation that it's all author insertion, especially when the author is writing with favorite characters is common and that's a perception that would annoy the heck outta me.
I realize it's a silly thing to be hung up on, but some of the comments I've seen written about authors of het ships do give me pause.
Which then erks me because how much stupider is it that because of reactions I've seen throughout fandom I'm actually more hung up about writing canon relationships than I am writing utter crack ships . . . just because one canon character is the female partner of the male character I like, and fandom is typically mean not just to the characters, but often to the people who write them.
Jason/Toro not remotely worried that anyone would think it was a self insert and mock me.
Toro/Ann, yeah it occurs to me that with ships like that I've seen a lot of snickering in hate memes about "ohh she wants to be her."
Anyway, this is in no way going to stop me as I like the plot bunnies, but I just notice that yeah, writing a canon het couple with a male character I'm known to like a lot has me more concerned than all the crack shipping I write.
. . . . also I notice all my icons are male, since LJ deactivated a slew of my icons. ;ljasfjsa;fj;sadjfaskdfjkdsa. Okay at least Catherine Black is in some of them. BTW Catherine Black=amazing female character. And yes, she was fridged.

Every now and again I draw fanart that is totally outside the realm of any community I am on.
So yay for exclusive to my LJ art =P (I know there are communities I could join for this, I just don't draw fanart of the JLA enough to warrant it)

( Greetings? )
My Husband as declared the little critters to be water based critters so that, to quote him, "Aquaman is not useless."
And yes, Arthur is carrying a goldfish . .. it's his attack goldfish . . or something.

These first few are from the Invaders Comic in the 70's.
I'm never quite sure what to say to Frank Robbins; however, I'm always happy when someone else has to take over for him. It's just *odd*
Nothing I scanned quite demonstrates that the full scale of the oddness his art can generate, but they're still a bit WTF.

( The Invaders as drawn by Frank Robbins )
( One Scan from Cap# 50, Bucky Saves Toro )
( Toro and Anne. Yay! I finally found some comics with Toro's wife! )

1. Title: The Demon of Men
Gift For:
thealisonbailey
Rating: PG-13
Pairings/Characters: Bucky/Steve (I KNOW I wrote it!), Dr. Strange cameo
Labels: Drama
Warnings: Demonic possession, Language
A/N: I think I borrowed from just about everything I've ever seen to get this to work. Hopefully it does :)
Prompt: Captain America; gen/horror/adventure/wuv <3 ; Bucky tries any way possible to communicate with Steve on the other side. Things go wrong and Cap's spirit has to save Buck's soul from a fate worse than death.
Summary: Seriously, you'd think people in fictional stories would know better than to touch ouija boards.
Listening to the two friends brought Bucky's memory back to the war and the down time he and Steve had spent together between battles, just being young.
2. Title: Halloween In Bed
Gift For:
milleniumrex
Rating: G
Pairings/Characters: Bucky/Kate, Patriot, Wiccan, Teddy, Stature
Labels: Fluff, fan comic
Warnings: Kate is underaged, but other than that, nothing.
A/N: This comic is intentionally without words. I thought it would be cute that way.
Prompt: "Prompt 2: Young Avengers/Captain America, Hurt/Comfort; a training injury ruins Kate's Halloween plans, so Bucky brings Halloween to her. I'd like Bucky/Kate in a pre-existing relationship. Horror movie snark is always a plus, too. :)
Summary: The Young Avengers are all set to go out for Halloween, when Bucky points out Kate can't and they are not going to exclude her. Nobody argues with Bucky.
Preview:

Halloween in Bed: Full sized
3. Title: One Night In Many
Gift for:
lydia_morlock
Rating: R
Labels: None
Warnings: Depending on canon, Kitty may be underage here by two years
A/N: You presented an interesting rare ship and I hope I did them justice. I really liked the Kitty and Caliban arc way back in the early X-Books, and based the characterization of that, rather than Caliban's more recent stories. I hope it works.
Summary: Kitty gives Caliban a treat on Halloween Night

I'm actually very proud of this series of watercolors.
They're not as "artsy" as the last series of portraits I did, but I think they are very charming, which is what I associate HP with.

( Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville, and Trevor )
Not too much to say on this one, other than Ginny took two tries to get right. And I'm glad I re-did them because I *adore* how Ginny came out here. Luna is also a fave of mine . . . and Heck Hermione came out wonderfully too. I think I did especially well on all the girls ^__^

Okay I don't think I've ever gotten attacked by a plot bunny quite so badly before.
The original draft of this was written as a response to
modestroad's
comment_fic prompt "DCU, Jason Todd, 28 Days Later"
I had to take it. 28 Days Later is IMHO the most horrific "zombie" move I've seen, because unlike all others, the infected are still alive.
I mean I can totally deal with the idea of killing the re-animated corpse of a love one, but ldkflkhfjsdh Christ you kill someone in 28 days later, and you are the one who killed the, THAT SUCKS!
Title: Duty of the Eldest
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian
Warnings: Death Fic
ETA Much thanks to
kirax2 for her generous donation of time check for typos and such ^__^

. . . So, Jason Todd has been thrown into jail yes?
( Minor Spoiler for Batman and Robin #6 )
Which means he's been fingerprinted.
Which means he's been indentified as Jason Todd.
The Kid the Bruce Wayne adopted.
I *really* think this is a kink in the whole "Secret Identity" thing.
I mean look, Bruce Wayne gets Dick.
Batman gets Robin.
Dick grows up, Robin grows up.
Bruce gets Jason
Batman gets another Robin.
Robin dies
Jason dies.
Now maybe Tim replaced Jason too fast for anyone to notice but still.
Bruce Wayne dissapears
Batman is dead
Without going into more spoilers for issue#6, look at what Jason was shouting publicaly. He'll be ided as Jason Todd, the supposseldy dead kid Bruce Wayne adopted.
SOMEONE has got to at least SUSPECT a this point that Wayne is Batman. The circumstancial evidence alone suggests it >.>
Alos LOL at Jason's red hair, because know is is a little more literally the "red-headed step-child."
(Do y'all knwo that phrase? I don't know how regional it is, but it baiscally means the unwanted/forgotten/overlooked thing)

Thought I'd share these.
Most are jsut from e-mails I've gotten over the years that I kept.
The one of WWII vets though, IIRC I posted last year as well. It's from the Honor Flight trip my grandfather was on that takes survivng WWII vets to see the WWII memorial in Washington DC, free of charge.
My grandfather is on the top row, on the left, right in front of the US flag.

I know what niggled me about Captain America Reborn #4
I mean aside from the bad art (WTF Hitch!) and the story which Marvel promoted as "high concept" which seems to be "bad and consisting mostly of flashbacks** and a weak plot"
Those "little" issues aside . . .
( MINOR SPOILER )
Please tell me this happened in some Dark Reign canon that I haven't read.
>.>
** Captain America Reborn is like the episode form an 80's TV show where they come up with some weak plot as an excuse to have flashbacks to earlier episodes so they can save money (or get around a writer's strike).

Anyone else think that Jason Todd is like the mirror-verse* version of Dick Grayson, and Damian Wayne is the mirror-verse version of Tim Drake?
At least a little, in an 'I amuse myself kinda way.
*I assume I no longer need to explain mirror-verse to the f'list yes? New-Trekkie-Fen seem waaaay into that.
Also, I think in the Torch they were trying to fic the coincidence of Toro's powers being exactly like Jim's but IMHO they created an even bigger one.
The new explanation is that Toro was exposed to "Horton" cells (that-which-Jim-is-made-from) which is the cause of his flame ability, and why it matches Jim's, and that's also why he never flamed on before meeting Jim.
Okay, so then if Jim activated the Horton cells and caused Toro to combust, then the organic X-mutation is his invulnerability to fire, given he demonstrated that at a very young age + the Horton cells are not spread through his body, so if they were causing immunity, only certain areas would be . . . like his pancreas.
So then . . . isn't it an EVEN BIGGER coincidence that the ONE person in the Golden Age who could survive catching fire is exposed to cells that cause spontaneous combustion. That would be fatal to anyone without Toro's mutation (ZOMG! My Spinal column burst into flame!!!).
I think the "huh, superficially your power appears just like mine" is actually the smaller coincidence here 0.o
